Hands-free charging for electric vehicles provider Rocsys has partnered with Easymile, who collaborates with blue-chip manufacturers to automise vehicles. The partnership will see Rocsys’ fully autonomous charging solutions introduced within the EasyMile offering.
EasyMile sells software for driverless transport, and was the first company to deploy Level 4 fully driverless vehicles using soft robots and computer vision. It has the highest number of remotely supervised operations on the market to date.
Rocsys uses computer vision and soft robotics to plug in the vehicle when drivers park alongside the robotic charging station. Improving EV efficiency has a particular impact on cargo transport and the alliance marks an industry first deployment of hands-free charged EV trucks at distribution centres, inland ports and other logistics facilities.
EasyMile already supplies EV solutions to leading global brands including BMW Group, John Deere, and Daimler. Rocsys, part of the robotic charging consortium ROCIN-ECO alongside brands including Audi, Ford and Mercedez-Benz, works with automotive brands, ports, and logistics operators, including Autocar, SSA Marine and Taylor Machine Works.
The partnership speaks to a combines vision of a fleets that are charged automatically via robotic plug-in, without any human intervention or time wasted at stops, in order to maximise productivity.
"Having an autonomous transport operation is not just about driving; it's about providing a comprehensive, industrialized, and certified solution," stated Alban Brisy, Director of Business Development at EasyMile. "Since 2020, we have been diligently developing the best autonomous transport solution, and we are thrilled to announce the successful qualification of Rocsys' solution with our autonomous terminal trucks. This qualification marks a crucial step towards providing fully certified autonomous container transport solutions by 2025."
Elwin Roetman, Director of Strategic Accounts and Partnerships at Rocsys, explained "This partnership represents a significant leap forward in the advancement of autonomous vehicle technology. As leaders in our respective fields, EasyMile and Rocsys are committed to driving innovation and shaping the future of industrial AV fleets."
