Swedish fintech Trustly has formed a partnership with French payment specialist Paytweak to offer a unified Account-to-Account (A2A) payment solution for European businesses.

The collaboration aims to deliver faster, more secure, and lower-cost payment infrastructure at a time when recurring payments and digital payment adoption are becoming critical to business growth across the continent.

The joint solution, built on a 100 percent SEPA framework, integrates instant and recurring direct bank payments with a link-based payment interface. It is designed to simplify deployment and improve operational efficiency for merchants, particularly in industries plagued by high card processing fees, fraud, or complex collection operations.

"With this partnership, we strengthen our commitment to offering payment solutions truly adapted to the realities of the French and European market," said Jérémy Pons, Chief Commercial Officer Southern Europe at Trustly. "This announcement reflects our ambition to make payments a true strategic asset for businesses. By integrating our solutions within the Paytweak environment, we give French players direct access to the power of European A2A, in a simple, secure, and high-performing framework."

Recurring and subscription-based business models are expanding rapidly, yet research cited in the release shows that 44 percent of European businesses still see recurring payments as a barrier due to high costs, delayed settlements, and fraud.

"This partnership with Trustly is a natural step in our mission: to simplify payments for businesses while guaranteeing performance and compliance," said Jérôme Torricelli, Head of Sales at Paytweak. "By combining our expertise in payment links with Trustly's banking infrastructure, we offer a credible and European alternative to traditional card-based models."

Account-to-Account payments, often described as “Pay by Bank,” are gaining traction in Europe due to regulatory support and Open Banking standards.

The partnership highlights a broader shift in European fintech toward homegrown, interoperable solutions that address local regulatory and operational needs. With digital payments continuing to accelerate post-COVID and consumer demand growing for frictionless checkout experiences, the joint Trustly–Paytweak solution is designed to position European merchants for faster adoption of A2A as a default method.
