The 9th edition of VivaTech, Europe’s premier startup and technology gathering, took center stage last week. The event shone a spotlight on transformative innovation, with a special emphasis on AI-driven solutions and pioneering technologies from across the globe.

This year’s event was marked by over 300 announcements and launches, many showcasing how artificial intelligence is driving progress in diverse fields. Startups like Unitree, Buddyo, Vrai AI, and Next captivated audiences with practical AI applications. A major highlight was the announcement of Mistral Compute, a groundbreaking European AI infrastructure developed by NVIDIA and Mistral AI, unveiled during the GTC Paris conference hosted at VivaTech.

VivaTech 2025 welcomed more than 14,000 startups, fostering meaningful connections with industry leaders from over 30 sectors. This dynamic exchange was further enriched by the participation of 3,600 prominent investors, including Accel, KKR, Lightspeed, and GV (Google Ventures). Together, they scouted the next wave of tech innovations and success stories.
Showcasing global collaboration
The event’s 450+ speakers included tech luminaries such as Jensen Huang (NVIDIA), Yann LeCun (Meta), Fidji Simo (Instacart, OpenAI), Vanessa Wyche (NASA), Joe Tsai (Alibaba), French President Emmanuel Macron and Clara Chappaz, France’s Minister Delegate for Digital Affairs. VivaTech also celebrated global collaboration, with Canada as the featured country of honor, showcasing over 170 tech companies. VivaTech 2025 also welcomed delegations from more than 120 countries and celebrated 50+ national pavilions. Nations like the United States, El Salvador, and Nigeria marked their debut, with the latter highlighting Africa’s growing influence on the tech. scene. Europe had a strong presence, with Germany, Poland, and the United Kingdom joining host nation France, which featured over 15 regional exhibitors.
Driving impact and inclusivity
For the first time this year, VivaTech presented its Global Awards Ceremony, in partnership with TechCrunch, to honor excellence, celebrate engagement, and amplify the voices that are redefining the tech landscape.
- Female Founder Challenge: recognized Hélène Briand of Verley, a biotechnology company dedicated to take part in the environmental transition within the dairy production sector
- Tech for Change Award: celebrated Genesis and Adrienne de Malleray’s regenerative agriculture initiative
- Innovation of the Year: rewarded Chipiron for its technological audacity in healthcare, developing a new generation of light, inexpensive MRI machines that works at an ultra-low magnetic field
- AfricaTech Awards: highlighted winners from Plentify (GreenTech), Reme-D.Inc (HealthTech), and Zeeh Africa (E-commerce & FinTech)
Sustainability and inclusion were central themes, with initiatives like the Impact Bridge fostering meaningful progress through technology.
