Italian mobility startup 2hire raises €5.6 million to connect cars to the cloud with plug-and-play technology

2hire, a Rome-based startup that converts vehicles into connected cars, has raised a 5.6 million Series A round led by P101 and Linkem, Italy’s broadband wireless company. Existing investors Invitalia Ventures and LVenture Group also participated. Launched from LVenture’s acceleration program in 2017, the mobility startup connects any vehicle to the cloud so that automotive businesses can manage fleets and rentals. Not only cars, the software works for mopeds, kick-scooters, and rental bikes. Specifically, 2hire created a plug-and-play device, which enables customers to remotely control the vehicle by smartphone, such as locking or unlocking the doors. Real-time data is sent to a dashboard for analysis and tracking. The platform already connects over 10,000 vehicles worldwide, from Europe to South America. Its customers include major car manufacturers, who manage vast inventory in parking lots, as well as car sharing services, who track various vehicles across urban areas.

“2hire is today one of the leading high-potential startups in the Mobility-as-a-Service sector. In only three years’ time they have validated the business model and accelerated growth by scaling up internationally,” said Luigi Capello, CEO of LVenture Group.
