Berlin/Remote-based culture-building platform Remi has raised €1.2 million in a pre-seed round led by btov Partners. The round also saw participation from angel investors including Tim Schumacher (Eyeo), Georgie Smallwood, CPO at TIER (as part of the Accel Starter programme), Emma Tracey, co-founder at Honeypot, former VP Finance at Personio, Michael Kuntz, and Trivago Founder Rolf Schrömgens. With this funding, Remi reports that it is planning on hiring the founding team and finding product market fit. Founded in early 2021 by Valerie Krämer, Rebecca Görres, and Franco Gotusso, Remi helps remote teams build culture and connection through a series of daily and weekly team-building activities. Remi’s thinking is based on scientifically proven models that encourage habits formed through repeated interactions and nudges, thus building strong connections within teams. Remi is targeting tech scale-ups, particularly those that are choosing a long-term remote or hybrid working approach. With 41% of employees reporting that they would consider leaving their employer in 2021 for a company that offers remote work, Remi is sitting in the middle of what could be a highly lucrative market. “In contrast to in-office culture, remote culture needs to be built and managed with much more proactivity and intentionality, to ensure employees feel connected and safe,” says Görres. “What is missing is a platform that does the handholding for team leads and employees. With Remi, we act as the people experience manager that proactively nudges employees to help them feel close and connected in their day-to-day.” Remi is now in closed beta with clients including TIER and GetYourGuide, and the firm reports a 500+ remote and hybrid companies waitlist. “Remi is helping us feel closer together even when working apart.
