Spotify acquires customer service and retention software company Preact

Spotify has announced its acquisition of Preact, a US-based provider of customer service and predictive analytics software. Terms of the acquisition were undisclosed.

Founded in 2012, Preact had raised around €10 million in funding to date, from Atlas Venture, Launchpad LA, Bee Partners and other investors.

“Finding the trends and behavior patterns in our data that correlate with paid subscriptions is incredibly valuable,” said Jason Richman, VP Product at Spotify. “The addition of Preact to Spotify’s team will help us design experiences that grow our premium customer base.”

The Preact team will be based in Spotify’s NYC and San Francisco offices, the company said in a blog post.
