VR and video game animation firm Cubic Motion raises £20 million

Cubic Motion, a UK company specialising in computer vision technology for the digital entertainment sector, has raised an investment from NorthEdge that the Financial Times reports is £20 million.

Cubic Motion's tech is used in video games and VR for higher quality animation as well as in film production. EA, Activision, and Sony are among its clients in the past. The new funds will be used to build out the Manchester company’s animation team and grow its portfolio of content.

“Aided by NorthEdge's investment and experience, we will deploy an expanding range of licensed software solutions, bringing real-time vision and animation capabilities direct to our clients and partners, revolutionising the way content is made,” said Dr. Gareth Edwards, CEO of Cubic Motion.

George Potts and Andy Ball of NorthEdge will be joining the board.
