A Hamburg exit: Opera Mediaworks buys Apprupt, a mobile ad network with a reach of 22 million users

Opera Mediaworks, a US-based, wholly-owned subsidiary of Norwegian software company Opera, has announced the acquisition of Apprupt, a mobile advertising company based in Hamburg, Germany.

The deal is meant to expand Opera Mediaworks’ reach into the German market - Apprupt is said to reach more than 22 million mobile users today, boasting a publisher portfolio of more than 250 mobile websites and apps.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Apprupt was backed by T-Venture (a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom), Neuhaus Partners and KfW.

Germany is an important and fast\-growing mobile ad market and is expected to reach $1.8 billion by 2017. Integrating apprupt into our platform will help us grow our reach into this important territory, giving our clients even broader global reach for mobile advertising.
