Dutch Minibrew, "the robot to make beer at home", has raised €2.45 million in a Seed round led by an undisclosed investor. Also participating in the round were Hoving & Partners SA and existing investor VOC Capital Partners. The startup had previously secured €1.4 million from its founders and investors, and €310,000 from an Indiegogo campaign.
The startup has not only developed its own home brewing machine so people can create their own specialized beer, but has an app that guides home brewers through the process, along with a "beer compass" that helps brewers to determine the taste and alcohol content of the beer. The company says the app-controlled machine enables precise beer brewing in 3.5 hours, plus a week for fermentation.
The startup already has over 400 customers from 33 countries, including some well known international and national breweries. Minibrew says the US is a growing market, and plans to use the new capital to expand in North America, South America, and Asia, and to continue developing its product.
