Sky Betting & Gaming has teamed up with innovation specialists L Marks to launch a new accelerator programme, SB&G CoLab, to help startups build and test their products and services.
Throughout the 11-week programme based in Leeds, startups will work with experts and business leaders from Sky Betting & Gaming and L Marks to define and refine their product for the market. Startups will have access to Sky Betting and Gaming office space and resources during the programme and will have the chance to secure further investment.
The programme is looking for startups in five categories:
Responsible gambling: Building the right tools and processes to ensure customers gamble safely and responsibly by identifying negative behaviours and providing support to customers that may be at risk. Sky Betting & Gaming is looking for big ideas that can demonstrate these behaviours and can help create a more ethical environment.
Improving customer support: Sky Betting & Gaming currently deals with customer support issues manually and wants to find ways of improving the customer support process to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
Future Tech: The gaming and betting space is constantly changing and Sky Betting & Gaming is looking for innovations that leverage newer platforms and tools like WhatsApp and voice assistants or rebuilding existing products with new ideas and features.
Trading opportunities: Similarly, the accelerator is looking for new betting opportunities for customers. This may include virtual events or betting on real world event outcomes. This category allows startups to explore new avenues in existing betting fields.
Wild card: As its name would suggest, the wild card category is open ended for startups with unique ideas or businesses that may still be applicable to Sky Betting & Gaming and its customers.
“The best and brightest in our sector work at Sky Betting & Gaming but we know we don’t have a monopoly on great ideas,” commented Andy Burton, CTO of Sky Betting & Gaming. “By opening our doors to partners from all over the world we hope to uncover some amazing innovations and do our bit to attract start-ups and entrepreneurs to Yorkshire.”
L Marks is the official partner of the new accelerator and has worked with several major brands, such as John Lewis and International Airlines Group, to design and run startup innovation programmes.
“We are excited to be working with Sky Betting & Gaming to discover new products. SB&G is a brand leader in this space, making this a unique opportunity for startups to learn from and test their products with a world class team. We can’t wait to see what’s out there,” added Stuart Marks, chairman of L Marks.
Applications for the programme close on October 15, click here to apply.
