Sound Particles, a startup based in Leiria north of Lisbon, has raised €400,000 in a seed round led by Indico Capital Partners, with participation from REDAngels.
The Portuguese startup has developed a software suite for 3D audio design that has been used for the production of movies like “Aquaman,” “Cars 3,” “Batman v Superman,” “The Mummy,” “Wonder Woman,” “Justice League,” “Ready Player One,” and “Independence Day 2.” It's also been nominated for the Cinema Audio Society awards this year, which apparently is a big deal in Hollywood's sound mixing industry.
“What happened with the advent of Computer Graphics in the movie industry is now being replicated at the sound level by Sound Particles – it’s a major revolution,” said the startup's founder and CEO Nuno Fonseca.
Sound Particles plans to use the money to transition to the SaaS business model and adjust its solutions for the markets of gaming and VR.
