Leading international cybersecurity company Kaspersky is looking for startups to collaborate with through the Kaspersky Open Innovation Program. The program connects Kaspersky with young cybersecurity innovators to develop pilots and test solutions that could lead to joint ventures.
Within the program, Kaspersky has opened a call for cybersecurity startups focused on the sector of small and medium businesses. Entrants will be able to pitch their ideas to a major cybersecurity firm and develop solutions that can be integrated with Kaspersky’s products.
To enter, startups must have developed their own expertise and technology, and have a working MVP.
There are several technological areas that Kaspersky wants to work with startups in, whether it’s protection for cloud users, data and apps or network security technologies – such as looking for better and more efficient ways to protect personal data, building stronger firewalls and developing deeper analytics.
Applications for the program are open until September 13. After that Kaspersky experts will evaluate the entries and select a number of startups for the programme, which will involve two validation stages.
This will culminate in an online demo day at the end of September where startups will pitch their idea. Kaspersky will provide some pitch coaching in advance of the presentations.
The program isn’t like a typical incubator or accelerator. The format allows the Kaspersky Innovation Hub to scout out innovative startups and draw up a cooperation agreement to work on new potential products.
Winners of the program have an opportunity to collaborate on joint business cases with Kaspersky, as well as receive support for the launch of their products.
The program can also help startups present their work in an international setting given Kaspersky’s global reach with over 400 million users and 250,000 corporate clients.
