New Israel-based fund D10 launches with $110 million for early-stage startups

10D, an Israel-based venture capital firm from the investors of Waze and WalkMe, has come on the scene with a fund topping $110 million. The firm is led by Yahal Zilka, Rotem Eldar and Itay Rand. 10D, which went by the name Ofek Ventures for a bit, invests primarily in early-stage seed and Series A rounds. Zilka says the team “chose not to define a rigid set of areas of investment focus” so that the firm stays open to new technology trends across all sectors -- or even categories that don’t exist yet.

Both he and Eldar are VC veterans. For the last twenty years, Zilka has served as an investor, consultant and board member in companies such as Waze, Argus, Onavo and several others. Eldar has over twenty years of experience in building technology companies, starting out on the operational side and spending the last decade as an investor. As a partner at Gemini Israel Ventures, Eldar invested in and served as a board member and observer at WalkMe, Moovit (acquired by Intel), MinuteMedia and Implisit (acquired by SalesForce).

Itay Rand rounds out the team with his experience as an investor at 83North and Founders Group, as well as operational and business experience, both as a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group and as the CEO of a tech company. 10D expects to add new members to its investment team in the coming year.

The fund has already built up a portfolio of six startups, including: Seebo, which develops artificial intelligence technologies for industrial plants; StuffThatWorks, which is creating a new healthcare database based on crowdsourcing; and DayTwo, which provides customised nutritional guidelines based on the gut microbiome for the purpose of lowering blood sugar levels.
