Symphony Technology Group goes for the hat trick, acquires Kantar’s Reputation Intelligence, PRgloo, and Onclusive

Palo Alto-based private equity firm Symphony Technology Group has acquired the media monitoring and analysis business unit from global consultancy Kantar, Kantar Reputation Intelligence; UK-based media relations and workflow management platform PRgloo; and US-based media monitoring and PR analytics software maker Onclusive. Effective today, the three companies will be merged and operate under the umbrella of (a new) Onclusive. The financial details of the acquisitions remain undisclosed.

Through the merger, Onclusive aims to be the comprehensive source when it comes to all things communications on the corporate level. (The former) Onclusive is based on a proprietary newscrawler that analyzes millions of earned, owned, and newswire articles every day globally and in over 100 languages, the offer organises content based on dozens of dimensions that can then provide aggregate and entity-level analysis.

From here, clients including H&R Block, Lyft, Intercontinental Hotels Group, 23andMe, Airbnb, and Experian can analyise and highlight the drivers of reputation and communications success, ultimately resulting in the building and execution of more effective strategies and campaigns.

Now add Kantar Reputation Intelligence's leading European media tracking and measurement offer and PRgloo's end-to-end media relations platform, and it's a fairly easy picture to paint as to why STG wanted to fit these three pieces together in the same puzzle.

The newly formed company now accounts for over 1,100 employees working from the US, UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Australia, and offers services to upwards of 9,000 clients in 130 markets.

Former Kantar Reputation Intelligence CEO Petra Masinova will now take on the role of Chief Commercial Officer of the new Onclusive, Dan Beltramo, former CEO of the legacy Onclusive business moves into the role of Chief Innovation Officer, and PRgloo co-founder and CEO Samantha Deeks moves into the role of SVP Product Management.

On the acquisitions and merger, STG managing director J.T. Treadwell commented, “Last year STG made clear its intention to create a market-leading insights and software company through the proposed acquisition of Kantar Reputation Intelligence. Completing that acquisition is a major first step and the additional capabilities brought by Onclusive and PRgloo widen the scope of our commitment to providing best-in-class solutions for PR and Communications teams, both now and in the future.”
