Pearson CVC confirms role in UK ed tech HowNow's £4 million round

Education publishing giant Pearson has backed a £4 million series A round for London's HowNow, a learning experience platform, together with Mercia Asset Management.

Founded in 2016, HowNow is a B2B software platform that connects employees to educational courses and skills building content, while integrating with the employee's workflow to help drive engagement. HowNow claims the platform achieves a five-fold engagement boost typically versus the typical learning management system.

HowNow said the extra capital would enable it to pursue customers in overseas markets, while also funding an expansion in headcount.

Speaking from Pearson Ventures' side of the deal, Pedro Vasconcellos described HowNow as a contender in the workforce learning space.

"Pearson Ventures is pleased to join forces with HowNow, an exciting Workforce learning company, to support their growth and explore ways to work together.

"Their strategy to leverage data to enable the employee to take control of their learning experience and career development has interesting potential for the future of workforce learning.”
