Valyuu raises €2.4M to fight electronic waste with circular economy marketplace

Today, Netherlands startup Valyuu announced a €2.4 million fundraising in a seed funding round led by Rubio Impact Ventures and Slingshot Ventures.

Valyuu is a circular economy marketplace that provides people with an easy and trusted way to sell & buy pre-owned goods.

The fastest-growing waste stream on the planet is electronics. 83 percent ends as waste, throwing away more than €60 billion annually.

In 2022 alone, an estimated 5.3 billion mobile phones were disposed of, and only a small fraction found a new home. Selling or buying an older (but perfectly working) device is often not considered worthwhile.

Valyuu marketplace extends the lifespan of electronic products to reduce electronic waste and provides a means to sell, buy and donate all used electronic products.

Through a transparent 'product passport', with detailed information about the product's condition, unique photos and access to test reports, consumers know the specifics of what they are buying. This ensures the best deal for both the buyer and the seller.

Every product is recirculated among consumers, refurbishers and recyclers, empowered by the matching and pricing algorithms.

Rubio Impact Ventures led the funding with Slingshot Ventures, with additional funding from Techstars, Golden Egg Check Capital, and several angel investors.

The new capital will support the platform's R&D, increase brand awareness in the Benelux, and aid international expansion.
