Social travel app Stippl raises €575,000

One year after its launch, Amsterdam-based social travelling app Stippl has raised €575,000 Pre-Seed to continue product development for early users.

The app, which enables planning as well as following friends’ travel plans in real time, distinguishes between general users and high-profile ‘creators’ who recommend and provide advice as they travel.

With an alternative to Google Maps’ ‘pin’ feature, it hopes to facilitate a marketplace for booking experiences and amenities based on these trusted recommendations. In-house generative AI software will allow recommendations to be intensely personalised, with the company promising ‘the most personalized and customisable experiences’. Since its launch in 2023, the app has amassed 250,000 users across 160 countries.

Capital was provided by Marbruck Investments from Australia and Volve Capital from the Netherlands.

CEO Luuk Verhoeven commented:

In the following years, we really want to cement our position as the leading travel app. With Stippl we intend to enhance the travel experience for all travelers worldwide, from the moment they start planning to reliving their cherished memories. This new funding allows us to expand the Stippl team and work towards new heights.

"Investing in travel apps means backing the journey of exploration and discovery of their community. Stippl redefines traveler's experiences, turning aspirations into seamless itineraries. Volve Capital is very excited about the future of Stippl, and the opportunities offered by this new release, enabling a one-stop-shop for travel planning and discovery." said Joost Bijlsma, Partner at Volve Capital.
