Carbon credits platform Arbonics partners with Treebula to launch in Sweden

Arbonics, a carbon removal developer in Europe, has launched in Sweden through a strategic partnership with Treebula, the country’s largest digital forestry marketplace. This collaboration provides Swedish forest owners access to a new revenue stream from forest protection through carbon credits, allowing them to earn from the increased carbon storage in their forests.

Arbonics is a company dedicated to leveraging data and technology to enhance forest-based carbon removal and biodiversity protection. Founded in 2022 by CEO Kristjan Lepik and COO Lisett Luik, the company collaborates with landowners across Europe to implement afforestation and improved forest management practices. These initiatives aim to sequester carbon dioxide and generate verified carbon credits, providing landowners with additional income streams.

As of December 2023, Arbonics had secured €7.3M in funding to expand its operations, aiming to cover 50 percent of European forests by the end of 2024.

Sweden’s forests form Europe’s largest carbon sink, covering two-thirds of the country and playing a crucial role in carbon sequestration. Nearly half of these forests are privately owned by over 300,000 individuals, many of whom rely on timber harvesting for income. As climate policies shift and pressures mount to balance economic returns with environmental goals, forest owners are actively seeking new ways to generate stable income while preserving their forests.

“We are proud to launch our offering in Sweden together with Treebula. Swedish forest owners hold natural capital worth billions, which makes forests an important asset. Through smart, data-driven forest management, they can create both economic and climate benefits, while securing their forests for future generations,” said Johan Junker, Sweden Country Manager at Arbonics.

“By combining our technologies, we’re not only offering forest owners a new revenue stream but also ensuring that corporate buyers receive high-quality, verifiable European carbon credits. This is what will drive the credibility of nature-based credits forward." said Adam Aljaraidah, Co-founder and COO of Treebula.

The company already operates in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland, and is entering the UK and two additional EU countries in 2025 with the support of €5.5M in funding secured at the end of 2023.
