Inching their way towards an IPO, Amsterdam-based cloud communications platform MessageBird has acquired video platform 24sessions and Atlanta-based customer data platform hull.io.

No financial details were disclosed.

Through the acquisition of 24sessions, MessageBird adds compliant and encrypted video services to its omnichannel portfolio, and Hull.io’s technology will be used to synchronise all data sources across MessageBird’s workflow.

The acquisition of 24sessions and Hull.io arrives on the heels of a $200 million series C funding round, giving it a valuation of $3 billion, and the acquisition of real-time functionality Pusher in a deal reportedly worth $35 million.

“Bringing a safe, secure and customizable video platform into the MessageBird family is the next step in our strategic journey and something we’re very excited about,” said Robert Vis, Founder & CEO of MessageBird. “Our portfolio of owned services already includes SMS, voice, email, OTT, social, live chat and push. The addition of 24sessions’ video platform gives us one of the world’s most comprehensive and powerful omnichannel offerings, and is consistent with our having end-to-end control of the stack in order to create magical experiences for our customers.”

45 staff members from 24sessions are expected to join MessageBird, while 14 staff members from Hull.io will join the team. This deal brings MessageBird’s total staffing to close to 500 strong across nine hubs globally.
