Landshut, Germany-based MQTT solutions provider HiveMQ has raised €9.3 million in a seed round led by Earlybird and Senovo Capital Management. The round also saw participation from angel investors Ali Kutay, Mirko Novakovic, Daniel Schellhoss, and Charles Songhurst.

The company expects to use the funding to ramp up sales and marketing efforts as well as press forward with R&D projects.

Founded in 2012 by Christian Götz and Dominik Obermaier, HiveMQ provides MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) solutions that allow for the deployment of IoT applications in a scalable and reliable manner.

With a market expected to balloon to $2.4 trillion by 2027, HiveMQ is well-positioned to capitalise on the growing industrial demand for IoT solutions, and the company currently counts BMW, Daimler, Deutsche Telekom, Liberty Global, Moen, Siemens, ZF as customers.

“It’s impressive to see marquee brands using HiveMQ as the platform for their IoT applications,” comments Earlybird co-founder Hendrik Brandis. “It will be great to see how HiveMQ connects, among others, the global automotive industry: from customers opening their car via app, to car-to-car communication, to automated and connected production processes to build these cars.”
