Brussels-based Bsit Technologies acquires Karamel to consolidate parenting services in a single platform

After recently launching Parentalist, its new platform for discovering and exchanging tips for parents, Bsit Technologies has acquired Paris-based Karamel, an app that helps find and reserve activities for children. Details of the deal were not disclosed. Brussels-based Bsit, which operates in France and the Benelux region, is an app that helps parents find babysitters, while Parentalist is a free-of-charge online resource and community for parents who want to share advice. Just last year, the Belgian company raised €3 million to go international and now reports it has half a million users.

Founded one year ago, Karamel has 100,000 parents using the app, which connects them with professionals who organise activities (lessons, games, events) for kids. The marketplace and booking service will be incorporated into the Parentalist platform.

Dimitri De Boose, CEO of Parentalist and Bsit explains why the acquisition makes sense: “The children's sector is made up of many scattered players and, as parents, we often struggle to find there. Karamel, Bsit and Parentalist are very complementary services. Integrating services like those of Karamel into our platform allows us to expand our range and meet even more parents' needs. The demand for activities, especially in the 0 to 6 age group, is very high.”
