"Fundraising is not easy. In fact, it is one of the most frustrating and time-draining activities you as a founder will have to do as part of your company’s growth strategy."
Thus begins a brand new e-book penned by - let's get it out of the way - our friend and tech.eu angel investor Carlos Espinal, who worked in VC at Doughty Hanson Ventures and went on to become a partner at European seed fund and startup accelerator Seedcamp (170 investments and counting).
The book, entitled Fundraising Field Guide and presented last night at an event in London, is meant to help clarify the fundraising challenges and overall process for high-growth, early-stage tech startups.
Based on Carlos' investment experiences and prior blog posts, the book comes with a ton of hands-on advice for founders on - and I quote from the press release - "how to reach out to investors, deal with rejections constructively, prepare materials and financials, understand valuations and deal terms, and how to manage the legal process".
It was published with the help of online publishing marketplace Reedsy, notably a Seedcamp (and DC Thomson Ventures) investment. Interestingly, the e-book is available for free with the option to donate to three social entrepreneurship charities, which are explained in more detail here.
Check it out and tell Carlos (and us) what you think.
