French travel marketplace Evaneos raises €70 million to fuel its global ambitions

Paris-based travel marketplace Evaneos has raised a whopping €70 million in a Series D round led by Partech, with participation from new investors Level Equity and Quadrille Capital, as well as existing shareholders XAnge, Serena Capital, and Bpifrance. The company plans to use the money to expand its offering to North America.

Founded in 2009, Evaneos claims to have sold tours to more than 300,000 customers. The main idea of the marketplace is to connect travellers with some 1,200 hand-picked local travel agents that offer some 8,000 itineraries. Customers then work directly with the agents to customise and book multi-day tours.

The company currently employs 180 people at its HQ in Paris. By the end of 2019, Evaneos plans to hire 70 more people and expand beyond the nine European countries it's working in today. It looks to use the US market expertise of its new investor, Level Equity, to support its North American expansion.
