Helsinki's Happeo raises $12 million to expand enterprise social intranet around the world

Helsinki-based Happeo, a social intranet platform, has raised $12 million in a Series A round led by INKEF Capital. Previous investors DN Capital, Maki.vc and Vendep Capital also joined the round. The funding will accelerate the Nordic startup’s product development and grow its teams in the Netherlands, Finland, Romania and the US. Happeo is a combination of enterprise social network, company news feed and intranet system. Founded in 2017, the business has grown 280 percent year on year and was named one of Europe’s fastest growing scale-ups by The Next Web.

CEO and founder Perttu Ojansuu says the platform stands out from other intranet solutions because of the user-first design, that the team is “end-user obsessed”. The company points to its usage rates, which are higher than normal for an intranet system but “on par with the world’s most popular web apps.” About half of Happeo’s monthly users log in every day. The Finnish company also reports that in the first quarter of this year, as companies rely on a remote workforce, messages sent within the platform multiplied by five times from 500,000 to over 2.5 million. To continue developing as an all-in-one workplace communications tool, an integration with Zoom is in the pipeline.
