Let’s be honest, not all of us are incredible interior designers. Or, sometimes we’re just too busy with 99 other problems to worry about does this really go with that? and what if this were there? and this was combined with that? In an old-world scenario, you’d have more than enough dosh to call in the help. I mean, that’s what I did for my Austrian chalet and Parisian pied a terre, shouldn’t you do the same?
Well, if you’re not like me, you might want to give Plum a look-see, as not only can they sort out your dreadful living spaces, but they’ve also been backed to the tune of €5 million by firstminute Capital, with Partech participating alongside and several business angels including T. Luke Sherwin, co-founder of Casper and Block Renovation, and Adrien Montfort, co-founder of Sorare.
Operating is a space that’s been projected to reach $255 billion by 2027, Plum provides consumers like you and me with access to a host of decor options, and, is happy to help you price, buy, and ship them to you. From customised fronts for IKEA cabinets to handles and very soon wall paint, splashback, and light switches, Plum promises to remove the glaucous from just about any room
But don’t just take my word for it, as the company reports €2.7 million in revenues in 2020, just one year into business. Clearly the co-founding sister duo of Amandine Julia and Marion Merle are on to something.
“We are on a mission to unleash our customers' creative potential, by providing them with meaningful and inspirational DIY and interior design content, top-of-the-line products, and expert advice and guidance; ultimately, we want to be the creative partner of choice when it comes to interior design,” commented Amandine.
The fresh five million will be used to expand the company’s offer into the German market in 2022, with the ever so lucrative UK market targeted, “in due course.”
Now, you might have noticed two keywords above, UK and paint. Which of course can only lead me to think of London’s Lick, which, has a very similar offer on tap. And we know just how well, historically, the English and the French get on. I for one, can’t wait to watch this battle unfold, for I’ve a manor house in Richmond that needs redoing. Hold my beer.
