London/Glasgow-based Transreport closes £2.3 million round

Seeking to transform the lives of those with limited mobility, London/Glasgow-based Transreport has raised £2.3 million.

The round was led by Reuben Wilcock of Blackfinch (£1.3 million) and Pete Carway and Louise Chapman Praeture Ventures (£1 million) and saw the participation of Social Chain co-founder Dominic McGregor. As part of the deal, Andy Summer from Praetura Ventures will join the board as a non-executive director.

The fresh round of funding is expected to accelerate expansion and marketing efforts as well as make new headways into the multi-modal vertical.

The Transreport app is designed to help rail passengers with disabilities and mobility restrictions by enabling rail line employees and station staff to better respond to booked assistance requests.

Already in trial phase with the UK’s major rail operators including West Midlands Railway, Northwestern Railway and Govia Thameslink Railway, Transreport allows passengers in need of assistance can alert staff as part of their everyday journey. In other words, the services is seeking to make travel for those with disabilities a regular occurrence and not an overly complicated task.

If the service sounds like a no-brainer, you might be right. Until you’ve travelled by rail in the UK within the past, 30 years. Train cancellations, delays, platform changes, or even a missed train, can throw a wrench into the works. Now imagine if you have an extra few steps to take before even getting on that train. All of a sudden, things became infinity more complex.

Thus; Transreport.

“Both Blackfinch and Praetura Ventures instantly recognised what Transreport is trying to achieve: make transport more accessible,” comments Transreport founder Jay Shen.

“We maintain an ethos of using technology for doing good, and the entire team is greatly looking forward to working with them to help grow Transreport further to maximise its positive impact on as many people as possible.”
