Paris-based Qovery raises $4 million in seed round

I’ve never deployed an app personally, but I’ve shared beers with a number of developers that have. And while we all have our own work horror stories, if you think getting that app out to the world is a simple click, click, done procedure, well, think again.

Parisian startup Qovery is aiming to take the tears in those beers and turn them into cheers in those beers. Promising, “simple, painless, 15-second cloud app deployment to developers worldwide,” the company has raised $4 million in a seed round and plans to expand the engineering team and build out sales and marketing teams with the new dosh.

A graduate of the 2019 Techstars Paris programme, Qovery has seen interest from over 10,000 developers in 120 countries around the globe and has already banked $1 million in pre-seed round via Techstars and various angel investors.

A seemingly simple solution, Qovery takes code from Github or GitLab and directly deploys it to AWS, Digital Ocean, or Scaleway cloud account within seconds. In other words, dump your new code into a repo, and let Qovery handle the rest, presumably while you go grab some beers with mates.

“We’re obsessed with making developers super-productive, letting them focus on what they love: writing code, not managing infrastructure,” commented Qovery CEO and co-founder Romaric Philogène.

Qovery’s seed round was led by Crane and Speedinvest, and saw the participation from Techstars and angel investors including Alexis Le-Quoc (CTO and co-founder at Datadog) and Ott Kaukver (CTO at Checkout, ex CTO at Twilio).

“‘Push your code, Qovery handles the rest.’ It’s an amazing thing to be able to tell a developer that all they need to do is push their code to Github and moments later it’s live as a running app on AWS,” concludes Crans Venture’s Krishna Visvanathan.
