A few months after closing a $60 million Series C financing round, mobile game publisher Scopely has announced plans to open a new 650-square-meter office in downtown Barcelona.

The Los Angeles-based company says it plans to develop "a meaningful presence" in Barcelona as it continues to scale.

Head of Operations Pere Torrents and Director of Engineering Martí Serra will lead the Barcelona team, and Senior Manager of People Operations Carles Almagro will oversee an "aggressive recruitment program."

“The Barcelona office will serve as an important hub for Scopely’s continuing growth and global expansion efforts,” COO Javier Ferreira said during a keynote at the Barcelona Games World on Oct 5. “We have amassed an impressive roster of talent with highly specialized expertise already and are excited for them to play a critical role in this next phase of our journey.”

With a network of more than 125 million players, Scopely is known for partnering with IP holders to turn established brands into mobile games. For example, Scopely’s top title The Walking Dead: Road to Survival has been played by more than 40 million people and generates nine-figure annual revenues.

The company says its international expansion will accelerate the development of its proprietary technology platform that allows for their distribution and monetization of its games.
