Toptal, an Andreessen Horowitz-backed operator of a network of freelance software engineers and designers, has acquired Skillbridge, a London and NYC-based platform in the on-demand business talent space, for an undisclosed sum.
Backed by 500 Startups and 37 Angels, Skillbridge has grown to more than 7,500 screened freelance business consultants in the last 24 months, leading to today's acquisition by Toptal.
The deal gives Toptal - albeit self-reportedly - representation of the top 3% of freelance developers, designers, and business professionals, connecting them with companies around the globe.
“Combining the two businesses, our learnings and resources allow us to bring a truly world-class offering in the talent marketplace,” said Saalim Chowdhury, co-founder and CTO of Skillbridge.
Aside from a16z, Toptal is backed by Quora founder Adam D’Angelo, Ryan Rockefeller, and other investors. Its customer include J.P. Morgan, Airbnb, Pfizer, Zendesk and many startups in Silicon Valley and beyond.
