WARP Sprints is the new version of the WARP Accelerator program from hub:raum Krakow, Deutsche Telekom’s innovation hub. This quarter, the program is specialising in the verticals of smart cities, logistics and transportation, and omnichannel with the deadline for applications fast approaching, closing this Sunday October 16.

As the name of the accelerator would suggest, things will move very fast. hub:raum will select five startups for a month-long “sprint” in Krakow between mid-November and mid-December.

After one month of acceleration, the program organisers will make a decision on whether to continue working together and what those terms will be, according to Jakub Probola, head of hub:raum for central and eastern Europe. “The aim is to learn very fast during this month and gain as much as possible and even some more.”

WARP Sprints gives startups the chance to avail of expertise from corporate partners to see what they’re looking for. On the flipside, corporates get a glimpse into how startups work and build products. Startups will gain access to much-needed funding. This smart money will help in developing their products as well as effective go-to-market strategies for commercialisation. Through mentorship sessions and workshops, they will be able to hone their product for the market.

The Krakow-based program is open to startups from all over Europe and wants to foster greater ties and collaboration between startups and the corporate world. hub:raum’s track record for corporate startups include the original WARP accelerator, where it has received applications from more than 3,000 startups, and worked with 58 teams from 18 countries and the ChallengeUp! program.

This time hub:raum is looking for startups that are solving problems with smart cities, logistics and transportation, and omnichannel.

The continued development of cities is creating a need for greater technological solutions, especially for managing energy and waste, said Rafał Wróblewski, business development manager for smart cities at T-Mobile. “The answer to these challenges could be implementation of innovations that could help to manage increasingly larger cities.”

At the same time, the logistics and transportation sectors are seeking out better ways to move and receive goods faster and cheaper.

Most recently, hub:raum announced its partnership with Hangar51, the startup program run by International Airlines Group (IAG) for its transportation and logistics stream. Startups in the transport space will have a unique opportunity to work alongside one of the world’s largest airline groups, which counts British Airways, Aer Lingus, and Iberia among its fleet.

As for the third area, “Omnichannel allows the smooth transition between different channels of sale – whether offline or online,” added Radosław Sałata, sales director at T-Mobile on the final stream. “This permits to meet the needs of the customer – so that the process and shopping experience are intuitive, fast and comfortable.”
