Last week, we told you that some of Europe's top tech entrepreneurs, pundits and government officials will take the stage in the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, on Monday the 21st of September at the European Innovation Day event.
Now only a week and a half away, the lets-get-to-know-each-other event is the highlight of a week-long trip ‘Startup Europe’ is undertaking to strengthen the tech ties between the Bay Area and the European Union. But what's a tech event without some good old pitching sessions?
All in all, the selected companies (see list below) represent 10 EU member states, including the UK, France, Germany and Spain but also smaller nations such as Belgium, Czech Republic and Ireland.
Cumulatively, the 15 companies represent approximately $60 million in revenue and 1,000 employees, and they range from SaaS/Paas to nanotechnology, e-commerce, digital advertising, online recruitment, IT software, maritime industries, advanced materials, online productivity and renewable energy.
Aside from pitching an audience expected to exceed 500 attendees, the selected companies will also showcase their products and services in a dedicated demo area in the venue.
Later in the week, they will also participate in a 'Scaleup Track' that includes roundtable discussions with corporations and industry experts, as well as meetings with prestigious investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Tim Draper (DFJ) and Google Ventures.
The companies were selected based on an open call, though there were certain criteria for entry.
