iPad POS startup orderbird secures €20 million in Series C round

Orderbird, an iPad point of sale system for the hospitality industry, has raised €20 million in a Series C round led by Digital+ Partners along with German retailer Metro Group and payment provider Concardis.

The Berlin-based company is mostly active in German speaking markets but will use this new round of funding to push into France with further internationalisation to follow, as well as continuing on product development.

“The investment in our company highlights the importance of orderbird as a central technology for the hospitality industry,” said Jakob Schreyer, CEO of orderbird.

According to the startup, it has processed more than one billion euro in sales annually across 9,500 orderbird POS systems. The company also saw its staff grow from 120 to 200 in the last year.

Marcus W. Mosen, CEO of Concardis, one of the investors in the startup added that digital POS systems like orderbird will transform the hospitality business through smarter interaction and valuable data analysis.
