Schibsted Media Group, one of the largest publishers in Norway and Sweden, has announced that the product and teams at several of its titles will come together in a new initiative.
Teams from titles including _Aftonbladet_, _Aftenposten_, _VG, Bergens Tidende, Stavanger Aftenblad, Fædrelandsvennen_ and Omni have built and will use a new “unified platform” for the creation, distribution, and monetisation of content called The Schibsted Publishing Platform.
The newly-formed Schibsted Product and Tech Publishing organisation will employee hundreds in product, tech, and user experience, the company said.
"Before, our tech teams worked in silos. If you were at Aftenposten, you didn’t have much connection to your counterparts in _Aftonbladet_ or _Bergens Tidende_," said Aftenposten editor-in-chief, Espen Egil Hansen. "Now, our product and tech employees have access to more resources, more knowledge sharing and more opportunities to advance their careers."
More publications under the Schibsted banner are expected to join the new platform in the coming weeks and months.
The organisation is also developing a new advertising platform, in partnership with AppNexus, to boost revenues and monetisation of its content.
“We must create new products, tools and platforms and are convinced we will be able to strengthen our competitive position against larger tech companies and secure a sustainable future for our media houses," added Rolv Erik Ryssdal (pictured), CEO of Schibsted Media Group.
