Freelancer platform Comet raises €2 million in new funding

Comet, a marketplace for freelancers, has raised €2 million from Otium Capital and Kima Ventures to expand in France and Europe.

Founded in 2016, the French marketplace connects freelancers in fields like app development or big data with companies and organisations that need them.

Freelancers are evaluated and connected with clients by algorithms; there are currently 1,500 freelancers on the platform with clients including Renault and Deezer.

The new funding will be invested in further development of the marketplace in its native France with a view to expanding in Europe. Freelancers will help “oxygenate” the labour market, said CEO Charles Thomas.

“We now want to accelerate our efforts to continue developing our mission around these new methods of collaboration in France and soon in Europe.”
