Volocopter raises further €5 million for its autonomous flying taxi

Flying taxi Volocopter has raised a further €5 million in funding from Intel and new investor btov Partners.

Volocopter is an autonomous flying taxi that can carry two passengers and is capable of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). The additional cash injection comes a couple of months after the German company raised €25 million led by car giant Daimler.

A spokesperson for Volocopter told tech.eu that the new funds will be invested in further growing its tech team.

The company recently tested its two-seater aircraft in Dubai as part of the city’s lofty plan to make 25% of transportation in Dubai autonomous by 2030. The tests have been completed for now with development recommencing in Germany on the aircraft to improve them for future testing. No timeline has been set for the next tests.
