Berlin-based personalised furniture startup MYCS raises €10 million

German customisable furniture e-commerce startup MYCS has landed a €10 million Series B funding round led by Beringea, with participation from Zimmerman Investments and existing shareholders.

The unique selling point of MYCS is that it's offering a reasonably wide variety of customisation options for its wardrobes, sofas, shelving, tables, and chairs while keeping them within an affordable price range. Customers can choose design, size, material and colour of the furniture using a “photorealistic 3D configurator” developed by the company.

Most of the MYCS furniture is manufactured in Poland, and the company stated that that the average delivery time of an order is about three weeks. It also works with a manufacturer in Finland, which takes care of the production of the recyclable seats for MYCS's chair called CHAYR.

Founded in 2014, MYCS is now covering the markets of Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and France. It also has seven physical showrooms in major cities, including Berlin, Paris, and Zurich. The company is planning to use the fresh funding to expand to other European countries, starting with the UK, Italy, Scandinavia, and the Netherlands.

Including the latest funding round, MYCS has raised €20 million in total so far. The company claims to have reached €10 million in revenues in 2017, up from €5 million in the first year after the online platform was launched.
