Norwegian browser Vivaldi and French search engine Qwant partner up to put user privacy first

The Norwegian browser Vivaldi browser is partnering with the French search engine Qwant, which focuses on user privacy. As Europe's only browser, Vivaldi also considers privacy to be one of its highest priorities, and the company expects the new alliance to provide its users with more privacy-focused search options. In the midst of Google's anti-trust case and GDPR, there is growing demand for alternative browsers that protect privacy.

Through the partnership, Internet users will be able to search the web without any advertising profiling. Vivaldi and Qwant do not track their users, nor do they gather or trade any of their users' private information.

“We believe that the Internet can do better. ‘Internet for All’ – a mantra that’s true to Vivaldi’s core inspires us to join hands with Qwant, a company that shares similar values to ours," said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO and co-founder of Vivaldi Technologies. "We do not believe in tracking our users or in data profiling.’’

“We are extremely thrilled to give our users another search alternative that protects them from mass surveillance," he added.

“We are very pleased to be able to count on a new partner like Vivaldi to offer Qwant as a search engine,” said Eric Leandri, president and co-founder of Qwant. “It is in total coherence with the ethical values that we carry and defend every day that we decided to cooperate with Vivaldi.”
