London-based food discovery app nez raises £2 million

London-founded food and drinks discovery app nez has landed a £2 million funding round from several investors including Martin Robinson, chairman of Burger King UK.

nez is an app that aggregates “hyperlocal, real-time offers in London,” namely is in Soho, Bank, Covent Garden, Holborn, Farringdon, Liverpool St, Old Street, St Paul’s and Chancery Lane.

“I came up with the idea of nez as I walked past a restaurant that had a ‘half price’ sign outside, yet it wasn’t getting much attention,” said Joe Zender, founder and CEO of nez. “I can’t wait to see how this funding will help local food and drink businesses and help revive the high street, while providing Londoners with exceptional offers and a vast choice of meals to choose from!”

Launched in 2016, the app claims to have reached 385,000 food and drinks redeemed through it by 150,000 users. Redemptions have grown tenfold over the past 12 months, the company stated.
