Helsinki-based gaming studio Reworks has raised 4 million in a funding round led by EQT Ventures, with support from Play Ventures and Anton Gauffin, the founder and CEO of Huuuge Games. The investment will fuel the global launch of Redecor, the mobile game that’s a “playground for home decor” where users can design virtual interiors. Players take part in life-like home decoration challenges and compete with other designers. So far the game has been released in beta version in a few markets. Reworks specialises in “uplifting game experiences that spark creativity and imagination”. Founded in 2018, the Finnish studio is led by former staff of Sumoing, which created mobile apps such as Recolor. In a press release, the company claims Recolor was the number one colouring game, racking up over 35 million downloads.
“We’ve been working at the intersection of creative apps and games for more than a decade,” said Ilkka Teppo, CEO and co-founder of Reworks.
To create new games with photo-realistic quality, the studio uses a custom-built REPLAY 3D engine and content platform. The engine enables fast roll-out of new 3D customisation games, while the platform is tuned for production of new daily content.
About one year ago, the company closed a €1.5 million seed round led by Business Finland and Play Ventures.
