Polish health tech startup Infermedica raises $10 million Series A

Polish startup Infermedica, creator of an AI-based platform for preliminary diagnosis and triage, has raised $10.25 million in Series A funding. The round was led by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and digital health fund Heal Capital, with participation from existing investors Karma Ventures, Inovo Venture Partners, and Dreamit Ventures. The new capital brings total funding to $15 million.

Built on medical expertise and machine learning algorithms, Infermedica’s platform helps check and diagnose symptoms, delivering rapid symptom triage and instructions so patients can receive the necessary carequickly.

Founded in Wrocław in 2012, the health tech company has around 60 clients in the healthcare space, spanning 30 countries. Clients include Microsoft, which uses the Infermedica platform for its Healthcare bot, insurance giant Allianz and leading German and Portuguese healthcare providers Sana Kliniken and Médis.

The investment will be used for R&D, specifically to enhance the patient triage and symptom checking features as well as clinical decision support analysis – functions such as intake collection and lab test interpretation. The team, which has doubled over the last year, will also expand operations in Germany and the US, where the business currently has one office. Photo: CEO Piotr Orzechowski
