October is European Cybersecurity Month, the EU’s annual campaign to promote awareness of the risks that arise from the use of new technologies. Cybersecurity isn't critical just for big players, but small businesses are equally (if not even more!) affected. tech.eu leads the communications efforts of an EU innovation project GEIGER that addresses cybersecurity challenges for SMEs, and we join the Cybersecurity month to highlight you should #ThinkB4UClick !
Small businesses are increasingly 'going digital'. Entrepreneurs with little experience in protecting themselves against threats to privacy and data protection have a high risk of facing cybersecurity incidents that put their business and their clients in danger.
It's essential that these SMEs become aware of their cybersecurity risks, and get help in reducing them. There are plenty of solutions available, but they don't necessarily match the needs of small businesses. To help close this gap, and make cybersecurity more approachable and affordable for SMEs, tech.eu is leading the dissemination and communications efforts of the GEIGER project. GEIGER is, as we explained in our previous post, an innovation project to develop a "Geiger counter" for cybersecurity, and build an easy-to-use and affordable toolkit and an ecosystem that offers support in its use.
To contribute to this year’s Cybersecurity Month, tech.eu and the GEIGER project will facilitate a panel discussion on cybersecurity as part of the Cluj Innovation Days.
The panel, titled 'Increasing the digital resilience of small businesses', will address the cybersecurity challenges that SMEs and startups are facing, and discuss the possible solutions. Join us on 12 October at 14.30-16.00 CEST!
