Investing in and developing their presence in the CEE region, Berlin-based TIER has acquired Budapest’s app maker Makery.
Financials were not disclosed.
The acquisition of Makery will represent TIER’s largest tech-focused office outside of Berlin and London, and Budapest will serve as the tech hub of TIER’s planned expansion into Central and Eastern Europe later this year.
All of Makery’s 27 employees will stay on board, and this acquisition represents the formalisation of an already existing supporting relationship. The team in Budapest will be lead by the Makery’s founders András Kindler, Gyula Vörös and Balázs Zsédely, and will be responsible for building TIER’s consumer-facing products.
“From the very beginning, we’ve been hugely impressed by Makery’s spirit and efforts to support us. The whole team is a great addition to our expertise and we’re very happy to have them on board,” comments TIER CTO and co-founder Matthias Laug. “Our plan is to expand the number of employees in the upcoming months with more local talent as well as team members who work remotely from all over the world.”
