France’s multinational, multifaceted, marketing and communications giant Publicis Groupe has acquired Bucharest-based Tremend, one of the largest independent software engineering companies in the CEE region. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed and the transaction remains subject to customary approvals by the relevant competition authority.
Founded in 2005 by Ioan Cocan and Marius Hanganu, taking a brief look at Tremend’s track record, and it's easy to see why the company would catch Publicis' eye. While the company can seemingly build a solution from soup to nuts, today, Tremend puts a focus on the development and delivery of artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and cloud technology services. Likewise, the company has a client list that reads like a dream; The European Commission, Orange, ING, Metropolitan Life, London College, and Carrefour, to name a few. Combined, Tremend has some 650 software engineers working on projects that reach over 60 million end-users.
The acquisition of Tremend also serves as a symbolic deeper push into the CEE region from Publicis, as the company will serve as the newest global delivery center for Publicis Sapient, the digital business transformation arm of the Groupe’s product lineup.
“We’re impressed with the Tremend team’s vision, the breadth of its skillset and capabilities around agile engineering, and its deep industry expertise. Bringing Tremend into Publicis Sapient is a powerful expansion of our global distributed delivery model and we expect to rapidly grow headcount to 2,500 people by 2025 as well as our geographic footprint in the region,” commented Publicis Sapient CEO Nigel Vaz. “We’re also excited by the strong cultural match between the two organizations and look forward to driving even more client impact together.”
