Belgian contract drafting startup Henchman has raised an additional €2 million to close its seed round at €3 million. It had earlier raised an investment of €1 million in May last year.
The funding was led by Pitchdrive, with participation from private investors such as Wim De Waele, Partner at Miles Ahead and Frederik Vandermarliere, CEO of VCF Cigars and the members of its own management team.
The additional funding will be used for its European expansion.
Founded by Gilles Mattelin (former Founder Intuo, acquired by Unit4 in 2019), Jorn Vanysacker (former CMO Intuo, former co-founder Rendeevoo) and Wouter Van respaille (former PWC), the startup has developed a Microsoft Word add-in that allows legal experts to draft contracts faster.
Gilles Mattelin, co-founder of Henchman said, “Our goal is to enable lawyers to spend more time on high-value tasks, that can set them apart from their competitors. Since Henchman requires no set-up and updates automatically, customers can immediately start repurposing thousands, even millions of clauses based on relevant suggestions. There’s an immediate added value in terms of efficiency and speed.”
“We are positively surprised by the high demand for our offering. Customers can connect their own database to Henchman and almost no intervention is needed from our side to start working with the tool. However, because our product is still young, we like to handle every request personally to understand the exact need and how we can provide an answer.” Jorn Vanysacker, co-founder of Henchman, added.
In less than a year, Henchman’s portfolio of clients includes Belgian boutique firms like Monard Law and Sioen and international players like Neuwerk (DE), Cleber (NL) and Avery Law (UK).
