Reed & Mackay acquires Spanish corporate events company

Reed & Mackay's owner is on a Europe-wide spending spree to create a trans-Atlantic group of corporate travel and events management businesses.
Reed & Mackay acquires Spanish corporate events company

Reed & Mackay, a London-headquartered corporate travel and events brand, acquired its Spanish counterpart Atlanta Events & Corporate Travel Consultants.

This is the fourth European acquisition in 2022 for the US-based TripActions Group, which bought Reed & Mackay in May last year and is rapidly expanding across the European continent with Atlanta being its first foray into Spain.

TripActions bought up Germany's Comtravo in February, and followed that up the month afterwards with the acquisition of Resia in Sweden.

Atlanta has more than 70 business travel/event experts on its books (across Andalucia, Barcelona and Madrid.) Both companies target premium-side company travel, events (think conference spaces, meet-ups not unlike Tech.eu's own) and bookings management. However, just from a quick scan of their advertising material, the two businesses give off very different initial impressions to potential customers (here's Atlanta's, leaning towards corporate events management from the pictures, versus Reed & Mackay.)

Fred Stratford, CEO of Reed & Mackay, said: "Not only does Atlanta Events & Corporate Travel Consultants bring deep-rooted knowledge of the Spanish corporate travel, meetings and events market, its values also closely align with Reed & Mackay’s uncompromising focus on high-touch service."

After merging with TripActions, Reed & Mackay said it expected that merger alone to create $5 billion of travel budget value from existing corporate customers across the two companies.

Naturally some corporate accounts pay more for privileges and the finest experience, like sports franchises, or VIP entourages.
