Payment infrastructure for platforms and marketplaces provider Mangopay is acquiring Dublin’s WhenThen, a payments technology company, which powers payment acceptance and automates payment operations for e-commerce players. This is Mangopay's second acquisition in less than six months, having snapped up Poland's Nethone in late November of last year.
By folding WhenThen’s expertise into their own offer, and combined with Nethone, Mangopay aims to provide additional payment services and anti-fraud solutions specifically designed for platform businesses. The terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
“Platform-based businesses, big and small, seek flexibility in how they build and operate their payment stack as they strive to meet their growth and revenue targets. They have had to adopt a one-size-fits-all payments system approach for too long. We want to give them more control, flexibility and scalability,” said WhenThen CEO and co-founder Kirk Donohoe.
The entire WhenThen team and products have been fully incorporated into MangoPay’s offer, and now operate under the latter’s brand.
“Acquiring WhenThen enables Mangopay to rapidly accelerate its payment capabilities whilst providing one of the best payment experiences in the market,” explained Mangopay CEO Romain Mazeries. “It represents a strategic asset for our growth plans, following the acquisition of Nethone in 2022 that strengthened our fraud capabilities. We are committed to serving our loyal customers, such as LeBonCoin, Chrono24, Wallapop, and many others, with enhanced features, and modular technologies that best meet their needs”.
