Italian startup Fitprime, a monthly membership that gives people access to online fitness classes and sports clubs across the country, has raised €2.5 million to fuel further expansion and prepare for international markets. The new funding comes from new lead investor Vertis, as well as previous backers LVenture Group, Italian Angels for Growth and Club degli Investitori.
Founded in 2016, the Rome-based startup has built an online marketplace and sports membership product similar to Berlin’s Urban Sports Club. Users can browse classes and facilities in the app, then visit multiple different sports centers without much restriction.
When Covid hit, the startup launched Fitprime TV, a new platform dedicated to home workouts, with thousands of on-demand and live lessons led by trainers. Some of the new funding will also help expand this offering.
