Polish unicorn booking platform and management software provider for doctors Docplanner has acquired Munich-based Jameda from Hubert Burda Media. The platform is one of the largest of its kind in Germany, servicing some 20,000 doctors and over 8 million patients per month. The financials of the deal were not disclosed, and the acquisition goes into full effect as of 1 January 2022.

According to a statement issued by Docplanner, the company plans to invest a significant amount of capital, some €250 million, and know-how into Jameda and, “focus on rapidly growing the company’s sales, customer care, and marketing teams.” Now given that Hubert Burda Media, a company that reported revenues of €2.66 billion in 2018, acquired Jameda in 2015 is selling it off just 6 years later, and Docplanner investing heavily into sales, … well, I’ll let you put two and two together here.

The German market entry will give the company activity in markets that generate more than 50% of all healthcare expenditures made in Europe and 84% of those made in Latin America. In total, Docplanner has a network of almost 2 million healthcare professionals, serves over 100,000 customers globally, and operates in 12 countries: Poland, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Chile, and now Germany.

“Docplanner was founded on the mission of making the healthcare experience more human. We view this as the perfect opportunity to enter the very important German market and positively impact the healthcare ecosystem,” commented Docplanner founder and CEO Mariusz Gralewski. “We are confident that the Jameda team has both unparalleled experience and the drive to win the market. We are super excited to work with the Jameda team in the years ahead and build even more amazing products for patients and doctors in Germany.”
