Less than a year after its founding, Paris-based startup moka.care has raised €2.5 million to scale its platform for employee mental health. The seed investment is one of the first from Singular, a French VC launched a few months ago by two senior partners from Alven (Jeremy Uzan and Raffi Kamber). Several entrepreneurs and business angels joined the round, as well. The platform offers three methods of support: personalised one-on-one sessions with psychologists, therapists or coaches; peer group sessions on specific topics (such as stress management or parenting); and finally self-serve content and digital programs. While other employee support solutions are also on the market (and getting funded — already this year there’s been $1.5 million to Frankie Health and £2 million to Spill), the French startup sets itself apart for its ‘100 percent human solution’. “Technology should only be an enabler: we do not want to digitize things at all costs,” said co-founder Guillaume d’Ayguesvives, adding, “Who would aspire to a world where we talk to a chatbot or an artificial intelligence about how we feel?”
In addition to improving the product, Moka.care plans to hire at least 15 people as it gears up to meet demand.
