German patent search database Octimine raises seven-digit-sum

Munich-based Octimine Technologies, which collects patent information and stores it in a searchable database, has raised a seven-digit sum. The investment comes from the VC Bayern Kapital as well as business angels. Founded in 2015, the startup had previously raised a six-digit seed round.

In addition to its database, the platform also provides a list of similar patents, information about the technology's lifecycle, and the patent's economic and legal risk.

Octimine wants use the funding in part to expand its collection of documents to include scientific articles or specialist magazines. It also wants to expand its sales team. According to the company, 15,000 customers have already used the platform.
